## 5. Academic Monograph
Palmitoyl tetrapeptide-7 demonstrates rapid gelation, excellent mechanical properties, biocompatibility, and strong antibacterial effects when grafted onto chitosan to form hydrogels.
This peptide promotes human umbilical vein endothelial cell (HUVEC) migration and tube formation to support angiogenesis, and polarizes macrophages toward the M2 phenotype, exerting anti-inflammatory effects.
When included as a component of an active complex, it significantly stimulates human skin fibroblast proliferation and markedly promotes the synthesis of collagen and elastin.
In a 12-week clinical trial of an anti-aging eye cream containing this peptide, substantial enhancements were observed in skin hydration (28.12%), elasticity (18.81%), and collagen production (54.99%), with improvements in fine lines and wrinkles reported by week 8.
It is used in cosmetics for sensitive skin as a peptide with high potency at low dosage and the ability to penetrate the stratum corneum.
When used in a blend with palmitoyl oligopeptide, it reduced subepidermal low-echogenic band thickness and improved its density on echography, and improved extracellular matrix structure versus placebo on in vivo reflectance confocal microscopy.
